The Avett Brothers were on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night, video for those who missed the fantastic performance:

The song is “Laundry Room” from their major label debut I and Love and You which was released last week.

The first time around, Mariah Carey’s new album, Memiors of an Imperfect Angel, didn’t soar. Let’s see if round two has different results!

The new new album will include remixes to every song on Memoirs. Producer Tricky Stewart says it will be “easy” and “fun” to do, but he has big plans for Mariah’s cover of Foreigner.

He says: “I’m gonna do a remix to Want to Know What Love Is myself. I’mma raise the tempo up. I’mma try to make it into something else.”

Let’s hope that helps. No word on when this remix album will be released, but in the meantime, the third single off the original album has been decided and will be H.A.T.E.U.

Jake Gyllenhaal suits up and wears a pair of socks with Nike sandals on the set of his upcoming film, Love and Other Drugs, on Tuesday (October 6) in Pittsburgh, Penn.

As Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf said on yesterday’s episode, “By the way, sandals are not shoes.” Oh Blair, you are so wise.

Elizabeth Taylor has to go into the hospital to get her heart fixed, and has asked everyone to send her good thought balloons while she’s in there. Elizabeth told everyone on her Twitter before those pesky papers got a hold of the info first. Elizabeth wrote:

“Dear Friends, I would like to let you know before it gets in the papers that I am going into the hospital to have a procedure on my heart. It’s very new and involves repairing my leaky valve using a clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better. Any prayers you happen to have lying around I would dearly appreciate. I’ll let you know when it’s all over. Love you, Elizabeth.“

So check under your bed, seat cushions and panty drawer for prayers (or nice thoughts) to send to Elizabeth.

Who DOESN’T love Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You?

Mariah says of her 1994 hit and her Christmas album:

“When I realize how that song has become a part of Christmas tradition, it’s crazy to me, thrilling, humbling. You know, I didn’t want to do a Christmas album. It was Tommy [Mottola]’s idea. And I was all, ‘Please I’m a young girl. People don’t do Christmas albums until they are, like, 50. Some sort of last resort.’ But he insisted. ‘No, no. Do it. It’ll be a big hit. So I did and it was, and I’ll always be grateful for that.”

And the singer reveals she plans to do a new Christmas recording with her mother, Patricia Carey, a vocal coach and former opera singer!

But is this some sort of “last resort” for Mimoo after lackluster sales of her latest album?

Either way, we hope it’s a hit! We loves some good Christmas music!

Marc Cherry, creator of Desperate Housewives, has revealed the big cliffhanger for the first part of the new season:

A plane crash on Wisteria Lane!!!!

Jeez, a plane crash?! They suffered from a tornado or a hurricane a couple of seasons ago. The property value on those houses must be crap!

Marc admits that the story is still being hashed out, including what kind of plane, who will be on board, etc., but rest assured that no housewife will be killed in the making of this storyline, much to Marc’s dismay:

“I’d love to kill somebody ’cause that’s just what I do. But the truth is, right now I don’t have anyone major dying.”

Um, if you kill them all off, there won’t be a show anymore?! What does that get you, Marc?!

I’m of two minds about The Next Iron Chef. I love a lot of food competition shows and this one is enjoyable, but at the same time I’ve always thought that being an Iron Chef was something important, something big, something you couldn’t become just by competing in some reality show. But then I remembered that it was a reality show and that I’m overthinking it and I should just shut up.

Last night was the season premiere. Thoughts?

Chris Noth and his longtime love, actress Tara Wilson, are engaged.

The 54-year-old Sex and the City star, aka Mr. Big, shared the happy news with Entertainment Tonight Canada while being interviewed at Once Upon A Tea Cup in London, Ontario (Chris and Tara are partners in the teahouse).

Chris, 54, met Canadian-born Tara, 27, while she was working at his Manhattan bar, the Cutting Room. The couple has a son, Orion Christopher, who turns two in January.

Congrats to the happy couple!
