The former Mr. Drew Barrymore overcompensated for an apparent drunk-tweet; a New York Times took a screenshot of his writer’s block and Zoe Stagg was all backed up. It was a tough Tuesday for the Twitterati.

The thing about Liquid Plumr is… well, freelancer Zoe Stagg figured it out.

The New York TimesBrian Stelter posted this depressing picture early in the workday. Thanks for the pick me up!

Today is the first day of the rest of Tom Green’s miserable, but now significantly less bloated, life. (Probably not, actually, but he had to say something to reconcile “Drink Scotch Ebveryday [sic] !” with “Say no to drugs and alcohol!” for at least a few hours.)

RedState.com’s Erick Erickson had trouble imagining that people might object to his writing on a purely volunteer basis.

Marketer Will Conley says we are being lulled into complacency. But in a bad way.

I’m not sure where or when these pictures are from, because the bottom line is I can see Olivia Wilde’s nipples! See, I’m easy like that. Some people say I’m hard to please, but really, I’m not. You just…

Scott Kara of NZHerald.co.nz recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

On whether he has any real regrets about what he has done over the years:

“The only thing that is regrettable is when people die and you don’t have a chance to say everything you need to say before they pass away. And I’m getting older and people who are in my age group, they’re getting older too. That’s why I’ve really been trying to make right with the people I’ve had differences with over the years because people die.”

On his guitar playing:

“A lot of people play guitar very passively and strum it like Roberta Flack, like [he breaks into mock singing] ‘Killing me softly …’. But me, I just like to punch the guitar in the stomach and if the little bastard gets out of my hands at the end of the day then he’s won his freedom. I look at the guitar as a weapon, not a paintbrush. I use my guitar to make a living and like I say, ‘Killing is my business.’”

On MEGADETH’s current lead guitarist, Chris Broderick:

“He’s really shy. The guy is as big as a horse and he can play guitar circles around anybody. I’m pretty well regarded as a guitar player but I gotta say this guy is better. He’s made me a better player. Not only did he pick up my style, but he did it faster and closer to the true style I have than any other guitar player I’ve worked with.”

Now that Brit Brit has tamed the crazy, it’s time for Daddy Spears to focus on the more important issues in her life. I’m talking about those horrific boots that have traveled all the way from the deepest depths of hell to terrorize Brit Brit’s paws. Those boots are made for walking….right into a dumpster!

I don’t give a KFed’s fupa if wearing them makes Brit feel like she’s walking on a cloud made of baby bunnies. I mean, my most comfortable outfit includes a half shirt (with Jem! on it) and old chonies with the part of the ass ripped out, but you don’t see me wearing that out in public! Okay, you do, but don’t tell Brit Brit that.

And you know that girl from junior high school who wears the exact same clothes she did back then 20 years later? Brit is that girl. Here she is having herself a shopping spree at Target yesterday. Brit would’ve gone to Wal-Mart, but she knew she would end up at the very top of People of Walmart if she did.

We took flak earlier this month for saying Oracle appeared to be, yet again, making wild advertising claims without any evidence. The business software company was just fined over those claims, since —go figure — it had no evidence.

Oracle’s Wall Street Journal ad (above) said its database ran “faster” on Oracle’s own Sun hardware —at “XX transactions per minute” — than competitor IBM’s database and server combo. Some of our commenters insisted that Oracle CEO Larry Ellison must have had the “XX” numbers to prove his claim but was, as his ad seemed to imply, sitting on them until an Oct. 14 event.

But Ellison, known for commissioning ads about capabilities that don’t yet exist, shouldn’t have been given the benefit of the doubt. He’s just been fined $10,000 by the benchmarking council Oracle belongs to “because Oracle did not have a [benchmarking] result at the time of publication.”

Oracle has not submitted any current evidence to the TPC to sustain this claimed result. Oracle has been directed to cease publication of the advertisement in print or online.

Lesson: Never assume that Larry Frickin’ Ellison, of all people, is being coy and modest. Larry Ellison does not do coy or modest. If he has numbers, he will use them. And then some!

GOLDBERG CLARIFIES POLANSKI ‘RAPE’ COMMENTS

WHOOPI GOLDBERG has hit out at accusations she condoned rape on her U.S. TV talk show, insisting she was attempting to clarify the charges leveled against director ROMAN POLANSKI.

Polanski was arrested in Switzerland on Saturday (26Sep09) and is currently fighting extradition to the U.S. over his 1977 conviction for unlawful sex with a minor.

The director fled the U.S. before he was sentenced, claiming the judge in the case reneged on a plea bargain deal. He later settled in France.

The Ghost actress came under fire after discussing the case on The View on Tuesday (29Sep09), saying, "It was something, but I don’t believe it was rape-rape."

Critics dubbed her an "apologist for rape", but, addressing the reaction to her comments on Wednesday (30Sep09), Goldberg claimed she was only trying to get the "facts straight".

She said, "Some people got the idea that I was condoning what he did. I’m going to be very clear: I was trying to make sure we had our facts straight because that’s my job – particularly about what he was arrested for and what he was charged with, which was unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, not rape, which was my point."

You can find video of her "addressing" her comments here.

Graham Norton (left) described this picture (right) as showing a ’strange lesbian’

Graham Norton has been reprimanded by BBC chiefs after a ‘homophobic’ joke about the haircuts of lesbians.

The gay presenter has been warned about ‘ reinforcing a potentially offensive stereotype’ after his comments were investigated by the corporation.

Norton, 46, and his team have now been told to ‘avoid endorsing’ such sexual stereotypes.

It comes after a viewer complained about the remarks made on The Graham Norton Show about an illustration of a jump suit invention, which showed a large woman with short hair.

Norton described this picture as showing a ’strange lesbian’

The comic described the picture as showing a ‘strange lesbian’ and when asked what a lesbian looks like, he pointed at the picture and said ‘That!’
